Heli-Factory Introduction

Kneeling: Bernd Bremer

I had the pleasure of getting acquainted with Bernd Bremer in April of 2022. Bernd is a big fan of scale helicopters not only in business but also as a skilled modeler. Him and Georg Maier are the founding owners of Heli-Factory located in Lindlar, Germany and they produce some of the finest scale helicopters manufactured.

Bernd was a farm boy (much like me) but on the other side of the world. He started flying RC models in 1971 and helicopters in 1978. He started his model business MoBB ( Modellbau Bernd Bremer ) in 1987. In 1997 he met Markus Zipper ( owner of JetCat ) and they became close friends. Bernd was present at the first running of the P80 turbine engine and placed an order and flew his first turbine RC helicopter equipped with a JetCat PHT3 serial number 003 which was in a Robbe BK-117. He placed an order for twenty PHT3 turbines and later received an award from JetCat for being their best dealer.

In 2005 Bernd met Georg Maier and they started producing some of the first exhaust systems for turbine powered helicopters and in 2009 they founded Heli-Factory. They quickly realized that the current rotor systems, swashplates and tail rotors could not withstand the high loads of powerful turbine engines so they designed their own much improved components and also design their own plugs for manufacturing their fuselages. They also produce their own model specific mechanics and rotor systems from 2 blade to six including scale swashplates to fit 12mm, 15mm and 25mm main shafts. Their rotor systems are the most scale and realistic that I have seen. Their custom built mechanics are designed around the JetCat and Jakadofsky turbines and also for electric power. They also produce their own tail rotor systems including the Fenestron, all with heavy duty gearing. All mechanics, rotor heads, swashplates and tail rotors are assembled at Heli-Factory.

Heli-Factory does not supply kits as you know them, you do not receive a box with a fuselage, many bags of parts, sheets of laser cut plywood and instructions printed in many languages.

Heli-Factory does it differently with one step:

They take care of most all of the dust and dirty work by cutting out all openings, assembly and fitting of the major woodwork being glued in place with their epoxy/resin bonding system. Doors are fitted and hinges installed for a perfect fit. Fenestrons are custom fittied along with the drive system connected to the mechanics. These steps assure the Heli-Factory customer of a perfect flying model. You will see many Heli-Factory models flying at events next year.
